Throughput is the total amount of work done in a given time. (In Physics we call this power) But in CS this refers more generally to the amount of anything we are measuring in a given amount of time. To differentiate this from ResponseTime or ExecutionTime, throughput generally is a measurement for '''many tasks'''.
